Big Green Battlebus visits St Albans

Greens riding high on polls pointing to big wins on June 4th

Green MEP hopeful Rupert Read called in to St Albans this week to promote his party's efforts to get an MEP from the region.

He arrived in the city centre in the party's 'battle bus', a vintage Routemaster that runs on reused and bio fuels.

Councillor Read was greeted by local council candidate Simon Grover (pictured on the left, with Rupert Read).

Along with other volunteers, the pair talked to passers by about the Party's plan to create 100,000 new jobs in sustainable energy, energy conservation, and transport as part of its 'Green New Deal'.

Mr Grover said, "The interest in our bus tour has been huge - people seem so fed up with the big three parties, and keen to discover more about our positive message."

The bus has toured the region from Norwich to Watford, as part of the Greens' strategy to take advantage of the recent surge of support many polls show them to enjoy. The party currently has two MEPs, and current pre-election polls indicate they are likely to win several more on June 4th.
