After complaints from station users and residents living nearby, St Albans Greens have won assurances from Thameslink on reducing vehicle idling.

For two years, Greens have been highlighting the invisible but dangerous problem of engine idling in the city, have set out an air quality action planand secured montoring improvements from the Council.

Now Thameslink has agreed to several new measures in the area around the station, including:
- getting buses to switch off while they wait
- reinforcing anti-idling messages to taxi drivers and replacement bus services
- putting up new 'switch off' signs in the overflow parking bay on Station Way.
