Green vote up 50% across St Albans district

The Green Party vote across St Albans district went up 50% at the 2019 local elections, pushing Labour into 4th place.

Whilst the first-past-the-post electoral system means the Greens didn’t gain any more district council seats here, Susana Garcia did succeed in getting elected as a parish councillor in St Michael parish.

Across the country Greens won at least 70 new council seats, breaking through on lost of new councils, including gaining two councillors in East Herts.
