Juliet Voisey elected as 3rd Green councillor in St Albans

14 June 2023

In the St Peter's ward by-election on 13 June 2023, Juliet Voisey was elected as St Albans District's third Green councillor, joining Cllr Matt Fisher (Clarence ward) and Cllr Simon Grover (St Peter's).

Winning the seat following the resignation of a Lib Dem councillor, Juliet received an impressive 45% of the vote.

The result:

Green 628 votes

Lib Dem 537

Con 156

Lab 84

The Green & Independent Group on the Council is now the joint second largest. We have councillors on all the major committees and several smaller ones.

Juliet's victory means the number of Green councillors in St Albans has tripled in just 6 weeks, with Matt Fisher being elected in May to join the re-elected Simon Grover.
